Cooper Chair

Create a free standing chair that can support the weight of the human body. This project was my first attempt at creating a furniture piece and was an exploration of different types of wood joinery. The main connection being a celebration of the cooper joint used to make barrels, which was implemented on the seat of the chair.

-Cooper joints were used to create the curvature and seat form

-Biscuit joints were added to give extra strength to the coopers

-A lap joint was used to secure the 16 degree angled back rest

-Butt joints were used to hold the structure of the rest of the chair
